Synopsis:

After the triumph of THE BANQUET, Chinese director Feng Xiao-gang chooses another period in Chinese history as the setting of the war-themed ASSEMBLY. During the Huaihai Campaign in 1948, Captain Gu loses his entire troop when the assembly call that signals retreat never came. As the sole survivor, Gu must look for the remains of his fallen comrades to prove their existence and to restore their ranks. ASSEMBLY is inspired by Yang Jinyuan’s short story "The Law Suit" which is based on true events.
